Filter press feed pumps are used to deliver fluids to the filter press. The pump is the central power source in the entire filtration system and the choice of the most suitable pump for the filter press will greatly influence the performance of the filtration system.

AOBL offers progressive cavity pump and diaphragm pumps to help feed the filter press, and a wide range of positive displacement pumps are available for a variety of different types and sizes of filter presses. Our accumulated experience in filtration applications has led to innovative solutions that AOBL uses to stand out from the filter press feed pump market with superior quality.

Filter Press diaphragm pumps

Air operated diaphragm pumps are used in conjunction with filter presses to pump sludge from the bottom of the sludge tank into the filter press. They can handle viscous slurries very well.

Food and pharmaceutical slurry transfer, such as edible oil, jam, cream, pharmaceuticals, etc., have high requirements for hygiene. AOBL also offers sanitary diaphragm pumps.

Sludge Screw Pumps

Single screw pumps are also often used in filter presses. Eccentric screw pumps are suitable for conveying sludge and are equipped with a hopper for transferring dewatered sludge cake. Sludge dewatering and thickening processes can also use progressive cavity metering pumps for the dosing of flocculants and coagulants.

AOBL also offers sanitary progressive cavity pumps if the slurry to be conveyed is food or pharmaceutical, where hygiene requirements are very high.

Filter press feed pump selection

Using a progressive cavity pump to feed a filter press requires maintenance of the rotor and stator.

Air-operated diaphragm pumps are inexpensive, but require consideration of the energy costs of running an air compressor. Depending on site conditions an electric diaphragm pump may be an option.

Centrifugal pumps are also commonly used to feed filter presses and are a good choice in some applications.

Pump selection mainly considers the following 6 points:

  1. Type and characteristics of the slurry to be conveyed
  2. Filtration environment
  3. Filter press size
  4. Filter press operating pressure
  5. Filter cake usage
  6. Filter Plate Design

FAQ

The filter press feed pump is a device designed to feed the filter press and is used to deliver fluid to the filter press.

The following pumps are available for filter presses:

  • Centrifugal pumps
  • Plunger pump
  • Metering pump
  • Submersible pumps
  • Self-priming pumps
  • Pneumatic diaphragm pump
  • Electric diaphragm pump
  • Magnetic pumps
  • Rotor pump

According to the actual demand, you can choose the right pump to use with the filter press.

The pressure of the filter press feed pump is usually between 1.5 and 2 MPa. However, the specific pressure value depends on factors such as the dryness and humidity of the material being filtered, the pressure of the transfer pump, and the chemical properties of the material itself.
